My Favorite Email Marketing No No’s!

Check out this post from my friend Gary Hand. I believe Gary is right on with this one and I couldn’t agree with him more. Please please please pay close attention to these No No’s and don’t fall victim to them!

Here are a few of my favorite email marketing no nos

1. No Permissions. If you don’t have the recipient’s permission to send them e-mail… you’re theoretically sending spam. And spending spam is against the law. If you want e-mail marketing to work for you, don’t buy e-mail lists, or compile lists. Being a spammer does nothing good to for your business.

2. Poor Content. If you have a lot of ads in your e-mails, people will delete. If you send e-mails frequently, but have nothing new to share, people will unsubscribe. You want your messages to hold interesting, relevant and topical information.

3. Poor Editing. Bad grammar, incorrect spelling, dead links … you probably hate getting messages with such errors as much as the next person. So make sure you’re marketing material has NONE.

4. Too Much Work. Don’t make your readers work hard to get anything done. If they have to fill out lots of forms, provide too much information, do a lot of click-through … yeah, just think of what you would do: Close the window and not bother to subscribe.

5. “From” Who? If you’re “from” line is not that of the exact company or newsletter your subscribers signed up for, they will instantly think it’s more spam. You should make sure the “subject” line relates to the newsletter or service you’re providing as well.

6. Rough Landing. You don’t want customers to go straight to a shopping cart when they click on a link in your e-mail. Nor do you want them going straight to the home page. Make sure the landing page your readers go to relates to whatever your e-mail message is about. Don’t make them search; make sure the link lands them exactly where you want them to be.

Do You Remember When?

This morning, I was listening/watching an interview of Bonnie Bruderer by Matt Morris in my SUccess University back office, and she had a concept that I wanted to share with you today.

“Remember When?” is the concept. The purpose of the exercise is to help you focus on what you want in life and feel yourself in that space. So here is how it works.

Ask yourself, for example, “remember when you bought that private jet and you took that first trip to Italy?”

Now, given that you may not have a jet, yet, you are telling your brain to search for images of something that already happened, as a result, it will and even create them as it goes. You are doing a little more than just thinking about what you want in the future with this. You are actually telling yourself to bring forward the event, the feelings, the visuals, the space, etc so that you can remember it. See how powerful that is?

So for today, ask yourself “Remember when?” as many times as you want about as many things as you desire. Start feeling yourself with those things or in those places. Start training yourself to experience what you want out of life. Start immersing yourself in your heart’s desires and you will manifest them…but you must believe it can happen even if you don’t know how!

I was speaking with a friend of mine this afternoon during a consultation and I wanted to share with you what I shared with him.

I understand that funds may be low and choosing an opportunity with a high cost is totally out of the question, for now. But I do want you to realize this.

If you choose a business that costs you $10/mo and then each person you sign up you get $1/mo, how many people do you need to make $10,000/mo? On a very basic level 10,000 people! That is CRAZY! See, in a business like that, as your only source of income, no matter what strategies you master, no matter who your mentor is and no matter how smart you are…your income will never justify your work. The end result is that you say the “internet marketing” doesn’t work, as opposed to understanding that your company pay plan doesn’t work.

So please, if you are into promoting the free/low ticket programs, understand that you will need to do 100 x’s more than a person in a pay plan that makes your monthly effort worth something. Be willing to work harder than everyone else and be willing to accept the fact that it will take you a lot longer to attain that financial freedom you seek. No doubt about that.

Choose companies, programs, pay plans that reward you handsomely for your marketing skills. This is your business and your life we’re talking about here. Don’t shortchange yourself!
