Finding a New Home is Just Like Marketing…

As I have been on the hunt for my new place in Atlanta, something just came over me. And it is the fact that this is just like marketing.

See, with looking for a new place, you start off with what you want and need the result to have. Like # of bedrooms, square footage, and location. Then as you go out, you look for things that only fit that criteria within your budget. Some places you look at will be close, others will be totally off. But at the end of the day, you have to keep looking until you find the few that really match up the most and then make your final selection. At that point, happiness is found and if you were true to yourself, you realize that all that hard work and going in and out of places and negotiating the right price was all worth it!

Marketing is no different. You may start off wanting and needing a result of let’s say 20 leads a day. You decide what those leads should have and what type of lead you want. So go out and you start marketing/fishing for the right leads. Some of them will be ideal for you to work with and some will not. Some will be great for your trainings while those few will be perfect for your primary business. But nonetheless, you can’t stop until you find the strategy that works best for you and makes you happy.

So, as long as I NEED a place to live and not just WANT a place to live, I must go out everyday and make it happen. Comparatively, as long as you NEED you business to work, and not just WANT it to work, you will do whatever you must to make it work as well.

So decide right now whether you NEED your business to prosper or whether you WANT it to. That decision and you being true to the man/woman in the mirror will help you move forward..but I will say this, most people who operate out of a huge need/why, get results, no matter what..excuse-less all the way down the road..

So what’s it gonna be?

As you continue to move forward in your network marketing career, I want to share with you two points that if mastered, the amount of success to attain will be unlimited. However, if you chose to ignore them, then your climb to the top can be a pretty tough one..

So simply listen up!

As I was reading a book written by my friend Ken Dunn, he pointed something out so blatantly that I think most marketers hear but ignore. Not on purpose but by not plugging into the concept fully and embracing it as fact.

There are 2 main tasks in our business: Prospecting and Processing of which processing is your CORE task. If you are not consistently generating new leads and having more people to share your biz with, the processing part is irrelevant!

We hear all the time that “all you have to do is…” or “if you market like this, then it is duplicatable”

Well the truth is, that prospecting is NOT duplicatable. Let me repeat. PROSPECTING IS NOT A DUPLICATABLE ACTIVITY! It is very individualistic by nature. The reason is because there are tons of ways to meet people and low cost lead generation methods but not all of them jive well with everybody.

For example, you might be a person who can walk up to total strangers initiate conversation and do that with ease. But to someone else, just the thought of that makes their stomach cringe. If you teach that method as being duplicable, your new sign up will try to do it and you will soon find out it is not as easy for some as it is for you and your organization will stagnate.

So remember, give people several different methods they can use to obtain leads, not just the way that works best for you!! With that, you can capitalize on people’s existing skills and allow them to feel good about what they do, as well as present a business with options.

Now, moving on to the second task, processing. Processing your leads IS duplicatable. Once you obtain that lead, that’s where the system of duplication kicks in. For me, in my company, our processing goes like this. Have the lead register for the webinar, call them back to provide them with a biz overview video link, follow up after they review video, complete survey and get them signed up (or put on follow up list). That’s it, and it is repeated over and over again.

Every person in my organization is being taught this process..it does not change, no matter what. This is not individualistic, it is a system of exposure that if followed, results can be obtained quickly..whether that entails a new team member or scheduling a follow up in 30 days.

So as you can see, allow yourself and your reps to try different marketing strategies, be yourself and find what prospecting method suits your personality and comfort level so that you can be efficient and effective in it resulting in bringing qualified leads to the processing point. From there, plug into the duplicatable system your company has for exposing the business and watch how much your organization grows!

Remember, prospecting is your CORE task..so get out there and discover which method is best for YOU!!! From there, it’s plug and play!

Be sure to leave me a comment. What’s your perspective?

Nothing Ventured..Well That’s Shame On You!

It amazes me how people know that they need to make a change, but almost refuse to in the same breath. But you, as the professional must remember at all times this…

The world programs us all to be cows, not rhinos.

So now that you are a rhino in the jungle, and you meet another cow, you must always remember that and know, the mind didn’t get that way overnight, and you and your awesome business won’t get it the other way overnight either! :)

One thing my mom always taught me was to go for it…to just do it..to do whatever you want to do, no matter what. She taught me that nothing ventured is nothing gained. And all I can say is I am so grateful for that programming. And I urge each one of you do practice the same. But, if you are so happy where you are, that progress and development is not necessary, then stay where you are. That choice is up to you!

However, despite those teaching and beliefs, I want you as marketers, whether online or offline to know, that people will not join you until they are ready. Do not force, do not beg, do not even “handle objections” in a loose sense. See when you do those things, people see you as being in opposition of them, and that is never a position you want to be in.

You want to always be a team player and you want them to see you as that as well. Let them observe you, which means you must be working the business actively. Let them see and hear from those you have helped along the way, and that means you must be actively working the business. Let them see that you don’t NEED them, but to do that you must be actively working the business.

So to wrap this up, be sure of what you do, be sure of who you are and be sure of who you’re looking for. With those energies floating around you all day, when the time is right, that person will join! Until then, keep it movin and keep prospecting!

Many times I see that people confuse Advertising with Marketing. Believe it or not, they are NOT the same thing. While in school attaining my MBA in marketing, I took tons of classes on the subject matter and just couldn’t bring myself to giving you all the details in one blog post.

Instead, i thought I would share with you a wonderful article I came across that gives a very clear breakdown if I must say so myself.

Check it out here!

It should help you figure out why your advertising may not be working…

Do Your Closing Skills Suck?

I will be the first to tell you how much I love our industry. But I can’t help but notice that many people still come into the game like it’s not serious enough to take time out to learn some essential skills.

While in L.A. the last weekend in Sept, I heard a very successful mlm entrepreneur say that our industry takes everyone, and how true that is. Medical schools don’t take everyone, colleges don’t take everyone, and McDonald’s doesn’t take everyone either who simply “wants” to start a franchise.

But for some reason, network marketing does. And as a result, people come in, with no training and expect miracles to happen…just not so.

So the one skill that in my opinion is more important than anything else, is the art of closing. See you can have all the leads in the world. But if you can’t close them, or sign them up, no money for you.

So the question of the hour is, how are YOUR closing skills? If they are great, then you should be signing people up left and right. If they need a little tweaking, then get with someone who you can speak with who can tighten you up! And if you don’t know how to close at all, then my friend, go get some training first!

Once everyone understands that millionaires in this industry are made by sealing the deal, and that you must learn how to do it properly, I think we can overall help more people to succeed and achieve their wildest dreams!

Since being online, I have learned a few key principles:

1. Build Your List
2. Build a rapport with the people on that list
2. Then recruit From That List

In that order!!!

Now along the way, I have met people who were not prospects of mine in a sense, but where mutuality of friendship grew. I never thought that meeting people online and working with them, would be such a fulfilling business. I mean I knew making money online was the goal and that in network marketing you have to meet people, but I am so grateful for some of the relationships I have developed.

As you continue and press forward to build your business, always remember this is a people business. If you don’t like people or working with them, then network marketing isn’t for you. It’s true! Just like if you don’t like computers, IT wouldn’t be for you..no difference.

Learn all you can, implement as much of that as you can, and teach others to do the same. In the end, it will all make sense. So for now, JUST DO IT! Ready SHOOT, aim my friend, that’s the name of the game!
