If You Convince Someone Against Their Own Will…

Today I was speaking with someone very close to me and I took the opportunity to ask him what he was doing with his time, via his business, during the times of being in the valley. Now before I share with you what he said, I want you to know something about me.

I am a hard-worker, meaning I do what it takes. I am also very giving and have no issues with sharing. I am also a true believer in that what you do today will reveal itself tomorrow. So if you do income generating activities today, you will see the fruits of that labor. However, if you do time-wasting activities, you will see the fruits of that labor as well.

Anyway, back to the story. Well immediately, he responded, “I’m not doing anything. And I’m not going to do anything until my closings in 2 weeks close”. To say the least, I was stunned! I mean literally, I was speechless.

I couldn’t get it in my mind that he was cool with doing nothing. He was fine with hanging out all day while having no passive income. How was that possible?! And let me tell you, I only asked the question because his pattern of doing nothing has been solidified over the past couple months or so, not just because “today” he was going to hang with some friends.

Nonetheless, I felt if I said anything else, that I would be pushing my ideals on how the universe works on someone who knows it, but who clearly isn’t interested in implementing it. So I kept quiet, went into a bit of contemplation and decided that I was in a league of my own…even amongst my own family.

And we already know, that “If you convince someone against their own will, they are of the same opinion still”. That applies to getting more distributors into your business, and I reminded myself today that it also applies to life in general.

You can only help those that want it…and the mindset of that other person will determine it all!

Stay focused my friend, and stay in the game. Your loved ones will pull on your energy the most. And sometimes, you have to let them go as well…

Hi Tracey,

I haven’t had a chance to stop by your blog in a while and really read through it, I’ve been so busy with mine

But I just wanted to stop by and say that this post is dead on. You can’t change someone’s mind unless they are willing to change. I recently told my best friend’s mom, kind of my 2nd mom, that I was doing network marketing and that I planned on quitting my full time job within the next couple of months.

Needless to say, I got a long lecture on why this was a bad idea, and how I shouldn’t let go of a decent paying job with benefits to do something as crazy as this!

So, not everyone is going to get it and understand there’s more to life than being an employee.

Right on Tracy. I refuse to sell anything. If I have to sell anyone on my business, I will have to sell them on it until the day that they finally quit and blame the industry and say it doesn’t work. That’s too much work for me. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Great Post Tracey!

I have an aunt who tried to tell my brother and I that we were doing everything wrong this past christmas with our lives….

She said we shouldn’t be doing this… we should go to college and get an education… yada yada yada!

I was really surprised by her “I’m right and your wrong mindset”

But I just kept doing what I’m doing and continued to take action…

I am actually glad she tore us up because It got me hungrier to get to where I want to be quicker.

Family can do that sometimes!

I know that she was doing it b/c she cared but she really just didn’t understand what we are doing at all.

As Napoleon Hill states, Those who do not have a burning desire for success, those who do not actively pursue it with purpose and passion, will never achieve success.

You are correct Tracey, you can’t change anothers way of thinking. They have to learn it or lose it. It is their choice. It is sad to see when they are making the wrong choice and you see it even before it happens.

But never lose heart. You can’t win them all, but the ones that you do win, Ah, that is the magic time. Those are the days you get to see your fruits grow and multiply.

Horses drink when they’re thirsty. He’s not thirsty yet.

To you I say, don’t grow weary in your own well doing. Perhaps with the prodding coming from you, it is difficult for them to accept it and change. You are too close to the situation. Don’t focus on it. Continue to be loving and encouraging as best as the ‘real’ Tracey can.

If this is a husband/wife type conversation…a great book I read AFTER my husband and I split up was The Power of A Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian and it is an awesome, awesome read. All of her books are great, in my opinion. When simple requests are not met easily with change, take them into the spiritual realm…truthfully, it works best the other way around…

I know how you feel though and when they are ready, they know where they can turn. Just be ready and don’t say ‘I told you so’. Just show them so…
