Lots of people say they have goals. But most of them never achieve them. Here are a few tips on goals and achieving them:

  • Write them down. Research shows that people who “see” their goals everyday achieve them more so than those who just think about them
  • Create goals that allow you to grow out of your comfort zone. Reach for the stars. Many live life comfortably in the same box they’ve always been in. Step outside, the weather’s great!
  • Select a specific date that you plan to have reached the goal. Without a time frame, the goal can’t be measured.
  • Be committed. It’s your goal, so it needs your support. Don’t give up on what you want. YOU deserve it anyway!
  • Reward yourself upon goal completion. State what reward you will grant yourself for attaining your desired goal. We all love rewards for our successes. Don’t short change yourself. Plan that next vacation!

For an exercise, jot down your goals for the next 90 days and the next year. Don’t forget to give yourself a prize for a job well done.
